Giving to SVCA – Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy relies on the generous support of people, foundations and corporations who believe in Christian education. SVCA does not receive public funding; consequently, the school is completely dependent on the support of our private benefactors. SVCA was founded by Eric Farel, Senior Pastor of Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church and Robert Quinn, Superintendent of Schools at Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy. Leaving the security of educational positions in public schools in our area, Pastor Farel and Mr. Quinn stepped out by faith and followed God’s leading to start a Christian school on the hill where our Campus now exists.

Today, over thirty years later and with more than four hundred alumni serving all over the world, Shenandoah Valley needs people with the same shared vision for the work to continue.

All of our campaigns and events are designed to give donors the opportunity to leave a legacy by donating to the advancement of boys and girls to be trained to love and serve Jesus Christ.

ANNUAL FUND – “Impacting hearts, souls and minds to serve” is an opportunity for the families of Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy to bridge the gap between tuition, teacher’s salaries and the actual cost of the school program. We know tuition is a considerable expense for many families; however, tuition only covers 85% of the actual cost per student. Rather than “nickel and dime” our parents with many small fundraisers, the Annual Fund allows families to make a once-a-month/quarter/semi annual or yearly generous tax-deductible gift that directly impacts the education of their child.

The Annual Fund also provides much needed funding in the area of teacher salaries. To be in a position to keep and hire both spiritually and academically qualified educators is the vision of our Administration at SVCA.

So far, with only our School Board, Administrators, Teachers and Support Staff having been solicited by our Institutional Advancement Team, the total for our first Annual Fund kick-off is $140,000! This money has been pledge over a three year period and we are both humbled and thankful for the commitment of our staff to further the cause of Christ in the area of education.

Beginning in January, 2007, the Advancement Team will begin an aggressive solicitation campaign. All of our families will be contacted and asked to PRAY FOR A WAY TO GIVE. We are not asking you to enter SVCA/Annual Fund into your list of bills each month…we’re asking you to ask God for a way to give! A way that won’t affect your budget…a way that you can give joyfully to the Lord and to SVCA!

AUCTION – The Annual Auction is definitely one of SVCA’s social highlights of the year and one of our biggest fundraising events. Sponsored by our Parents in Action (PIA), the auction provides the school with money to help us acquire everything from new black/white classroom boards to newly remodeled locker rooms. We are grateful for all PIA as done and will continue to do for our school. SVCA would not be successful without the volunteers that support us in our mission.

Please contact Kim Nemec, president of PIA at knemec@svca.net for ways to get involved or ways to give to the auction.

EVENTS – SVCA is always running in high gear, with many events happening around our Campus. Whether it’s athletic, entertainment, spiritual or academic-related, events enhance each member of our student body. For a list of this year’s events, please visit our Calendar.

February 9 Homecoming Basketball Game

February 13 Bring your Pastor to School Day and Pastor & wives Appreciation luncheon

Minutemen – are parents that are interested in becoming a part of the volunteer force behind Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy. Your job is to get to know a handful of parents, make sure they are connected in the school, answer their questions and get them plugged in where they need to be.

Four to six times throughout the school year you will be calling your selected parents and informing them of important information that needs to be communicated on a personal level. You will become the “familiar” voice that guides these families in their journey through SVCA.

For more information, please contact Kay Combs at kcombs@svca.net.

Golf /Walk Tournament - On behalf of Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy, we would like to extend an invitation for your support of the second annual SVCA Golf /Walk Tournament. We are looking forward to another exciting and exhilarating event at beautiful Bowling Green South on Thursday, October 5, 2007 and hope that you will be a part of it. This fun-filled day of golfing, walking, friendship and charity will benefit the Financial Aid and Athletic Programs at our academy.

Your contributions will help us achieve our mission of providing a superb educational experience for students with financial needs as well as make available everything possible to assist them in their athletic achievements. These are goals we would not be able to accomplish without your support.

Golf/Walk/Serve Annual “All Fore One” Event to stop the little fundraisers at SVCA.

“All Fore One” is such an appropriate title for our annual golf/walk/serve event. There is something for everyone in our annual “All Fore One” event coming up October 2, 2008. This once a year fundraiser has allowed our entire student body to corporately support the school while doing away with the little fundraisers such as candy sales and wrapping paper.

Together we raised $54,353 dollars at the All Fore One Fall Event in 2007. The Teacher Salary Endowment Fund kicked off with a donation of $12,600 from our golfers. Athletics received a contribution of $8,000 from these funds. The remainder was used to close the gap in our general operating fund.

Golfers sign up now and mark your calendars to be at Bowling Green Country Club, North Course, Thursday, October 2, 2008. We invite you to a day of fun, fellowship and food with 100% of the proceeds going to support our Teacher Salary Endowment Fund. Please contact Marianne Poole for more information.

The Elementary school walkers are inviting all parents, grandparents, and friends to show up on October 2, 2008 at the Bowling Green Country Club North Course for a day of unity and prayer for our school.

The Middle and Upper School servers are inviting all parents and grandparents to go with us as we serve our community. We will be serving in area churches and non profit corporations as a way to give back to our community.

All proceeds will be used to support the schools general fund as tuition only covers 90% of the cost of operating the school.

For more information on how your can get involved in the upcoming “All Fore One” event please contact Staci Sampson.
