!!! IMPORTANT CALENDAR CHANGES !!!

Based on a review of the quarterly dates, SVCA Administration has discovered a miscalculation for the 3rd quarter. Administration has re-adjusted the dates for the 3rd quarter to be January 25th - March 23rd. This in no way affects the Curriculum or changes the legal amount of required days for the school year.

The date changes within the 3rd Quarter are as follows:

Mid Term Reports will come out on February 21, 2012, and NOT on February 14, 2012.

Parent Teacher Conferences will now be on February 24, 2012, (NO SCHOOL) and NOT on February 17, 2012, (There will be school this day.)

**This is also Homecoming and the last day of Spirit Week. “Seniors for Hire” will be auctioned off on Friday of Spirit Week, February 17th.**

End of 3rd Quarter will be on March 23, 2012, and NOT on March 16, 2012. The Start of 4th Quarter will begin on March 26, 2012.

PTF will be on Thursday, March 29, 2012 (Science Fair) and NOT on March 27, 2012.

EASTER BREAK will REMAIN THE SAME - April 2-9, 2012.

This week information is coming home regarding our Annual PIA Auction and how to collect donations. The donation letter and the donation log sheet are available below if you need additional copies. This is a very exciting time of year, we all need to work together to make this a great event at our school. This year, all of the proceeds from the auction will go into the school’s general fund to help with the maintenance of our academy.

We are saddened to inform all of our families at SVCA that we lost a wonderful student & friend, James Arkenau, to a tragic accident last evening. Although we all mourn the death of James, we also choose to celebrate his new life with Christ.

The Junior Class is taking up a Loving Offering to give to the Arkenau Family & the Honor Society is working on a Memorial in honor of James. If you would like to help with either effort, please send in your donation to SVCA and indicate which fund you would like to support.

MEMORIAL SERVICE INFO:

Saturday, Jan 7th: Viewing at Fellowship Bible Church in Winchester from 10am to 1pm, open to the public. With a private burial at Union Chapel on 522N in Berkeley Springs at 2pm, open to family and close friends of James.

Tuesday, Jan 10th: Memorial service to celbrate the life of James at Fellowship Bible Church in Winchester at 4:30 pm, open to the public.

Please continue to pray for the Arkenau Family, especially James’ younger sister Sandi who is in 7th grade at SVCA.

No Tax statements will be mail out.

1. When students are absent from school, the parent/guardian must call the school office so our Administration is informed, otherwise it is considered skipping.
2. If a student comes in late or leaves early they must sign in or sign out.
3. If a student needs to leave early, the parent/guardian needs to send in a note or call the school office to let us know in advance.
4. If a student is going to be out for an extended period of time, a note needs to go to the Teachers and Administration so they can receive their assignments in advance.
5. “Excused” Tardies are given for doctor and dentist appoints, etc… not for over sleeping!

Students should NOT be dropped off on the Route 11 side of the school. This area is for the buses, teachers & staff ONLY. Please drive around to the I-81 side when dropping off. Continue to park in the lower parking lot if you are walking your child into the gym or need a few moments with them in the morning.

These procedures benefit the safety of our students…. Please help to keep our parking lot safe!
