SVCA's
Kindergarten program begins with the Kindergarten-4 program and continues through
the advanced kindergarten (AK5) program. Currently, all kindergarten
programs at SVCA are full-day and use ABeka curriculum.
Although
the programs build off of each other, it is
not
necessary for a student to complete the year prior to be able to
succeed in their classroom, as each year begins with foundational
material.
Each
class uses instructional and activity sessions to teach letters,
colors, numbers, shapes, and printing. In addition, each class makes
time for daily Bible time, playtime and nap time. Both the K4 and
K5 programs teach phonics as the foundational technique to reading
and will include lessons on history and science throughout the year.
AK5
is comprised of students who have completed the K4 program and have
been recommended into the AK5 program by the K4 teaching staff based
on their academic ability.
The
kindergarten programs school days begin at 8:15 am and conclude
at 3:00 pm. The school year typically begins at the beginning of September
and will conclude in the middle of May with a kindergarten graduation
ceremony for the K5 and AK5. K4 students will finish at the same
time as K5 and AK5 students.
